Dear Sesquicentennial Ambassadors:
Thank you for agreeing to serve as a Sesquicentennial Ambassador. You do not have to start or run or coordinate any local programs or raise money for the Sesquicentennial (although if you want do to that, please go ahead). We need you to be the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission’s eyes and ears and outreach to help engage citizens in your county. Pass information along to other contacts and to media in your county. And pass information back to us.
Some of you are active already in local events for the Sesquicentennial. Much is and will be happening statewide. It is a challenge to reach 5 million people and 87,000 square miles of territory, but we will do the very best we can, together. We want to focus on getting the job done well on what we have planned already. Keeping focused and coordinated on that, we can all look back with pride at the meaningful and memorable things we accomplished together.
We ask that you stay abreast of the developments in the Sesquicentennial Commission programs, events, and ways to generate Sesquicentennial spirit, such as flags, banners, medallions, and Sesqui gear – all available thru the website at www.mn150years.org. Check out all the “Community Programs” going on by clicking on the “Community Programs” dropdown list.
We will try as well to keep you in the know thru the emails, announcements and news releases we will pass along. Especially please note the list of grants that have been awarded at http://www.mn150years.org/grants.html. Every county did receive a micro grant – some in the form of a multi-county grant. If you can’t find the grant project listed for your county, please send an email to megan@mn150years.org, and we will make sure you get the details on your county grant. Some counties were also part of the Legacy grant program.
And in reverse, if you see local Sesquicentennial-related events or programs happening that aren’t listed on the Sesquicentennial calendar, let us know so we can help promote them. You can find the calendar on the drop down link below “Events” on the front page of the Sesqui website. The events are searchable by date, topic, and location.
THANK YOU and keep checking the website for updates…..
